Praise for the show

My favorite memory of the festival was the appearance of Henry the Juggler. He must have been 7 feet tall, a real string bean. And he walked on stilts, juggling as he went. All the kids mouths were open wide with amazement. I've never forgotten it.

Your sense of the audience is perfect; your inclusion of audience participation welcome, and your mastery of your art is a joy to watch. It is a rare performer who could hold everyone silently spellbound while using no words, but you did it.

It evoked in me a sense of wonder that stayed with me, and inspired me to feel more aware of the nature around me.

There could not be a better venue for educating birders and general public alike than this program. Combining wonderful masks, acting and mime, and a personality that reaches everyone in the audience, Henry provides a blend of fun, education and entertainment. His shows have become tremendously popular at our festival - usually standing room only. Mr. Lappen is exceptional in his bird knowledge and projection of their behaviors and adaptations into mime. He truly becomes a bird - as anyone who has seen him become a great blue heron stalking its food can attest!

Mary Alice Koeneke, Program Chair
Lake Ontario Bird Fest, Mexico, NY

It's better than recess!
Totally awesome and cool!

I was mesmerized by the masks and by your movements. You have such a relaxed way and naturalness with the audience. It was a great program.

Joyce Laiosa, Librarian
Voorheesville Public Library, Voorheesville, NY

Your masks were super and your demonstration using masks and body movement really brought each bird to life. I think that everyone, child and adult, came away with something: inspiration to observe birds more closely, to make masks, to dance like birds; and much knowledge. Thank you for a wonderful time.
